Employer health insurance can see a bit of relief

Thursday, October 6th, 2011

Anyone know the employer health insurance costs have increased significantly over the last decade. As health costs rise, so the health insurance premiums, and employers can only take so many hits. Will experience higher costs because they can not afford to pay as much as before their insurance packages for employees of health. There is little relief in sight, although the article, “the health insurance costs for employers, slowing the U.S. companies cut costs,” Chris Greenhough is Inquisitr.com.

Employers across the country expect to pay less for health insurance for their employees in 2012. Employees can still end up paying a price for the small business rate health insurance. Companies move in terms of employee health benefits with less cost and increase their out of pocket. Each company is responsible for changes differently. In general, a recent survey by the Mercer consulting firm, shows that the costs of health benefits will increase by about 5.4%, which is the smallest increase since 1997. This could mean big savings for employers representing a further increase this year.

Mercer said a couple of reasons for an increase. With the economic crisis, more people are staying away from doctors to avoid expensive deductibles. In addition, employers increasingly offering programs in health and welfare of their employees who may be paying off. Early detection of risks and prevention is the key to reducing the overall costs of health care. Through health education, healthier workers stay and fewer visits to doctors because of this. The companies will probably still increase premiums and co-payments, but hopefully not be as great as increased workers have seen before. The final results of all employers in the revised 2800 Mercer study will be released in late 2011.
